European Recycling Platform (ERP) handles the collection and recovery of electronic waste such as old batteries on the behalf of importers and manufacturers in several European countries.
Today, only small parts of batteries are dangerous for the environment. However, analyses show that many people still consider batteries hazardous. The challenge for Sylvester Hvid & Co. Ltd. was therefore to create a more positive and varied picture of batteries that contain a number of useful raw material that can be recycled for other purposes. To the benefit of our environment.
The campaign's focal point was a website, having all necessary information presented in an inspirational and involving way. TV spots, PR, newspaper ads and online banners worked as the traffic creating media. We also began a collaboration with Danish municipalities in order to secure local implementation of the core campaign messages.
Concerts were arranged in 12 countries to celebrating that ERP on European level had collected 1 million ton of electronic scrap. Access to tickets for the concerts were people submitting a piece of electronic litter. In that way, the tangible action - handing over electronic waste - was linked to the reward: Tickets for a concert with one of the most exciting new names on the local music scene.
The events were a huge success in all Europe tempting more than 20,000 people to participate. It also created massive media coverage and lots of goodwill for ERP. In Copenhagen, Sylvester Hvid & Co arranged a sold out concert in Vega with the group I Got You On Tape.
With the event, ERP has got a platform for communicating messages about eco-friendly behaviour. ERP is meeting some of the real power users of electronic gadges - people under 30 years - on their premises where ERP catches their awareness in new ways.
There was a good reason for partying - the campaign results.▼ Read more ▲ Less
